WELCOME BACK, BRAD – FROM LA TO THE BAY!

Brad Schmidt is CEO of NCPIC (Northern California PET Imaging Center), a global leader in precision cancer imaging using PET (Positron Emission Tomography) in conjunction with CT (Computed Tomography) combined into a single superposed (co-registered) image of sequential images taken from both devices in the same session. As NCPIC’s CEO, Brad focuses on supporting oncology modernization, expanding collaborations, and developing partnerships for the Center with other providers, medical device, and pharma companies. NCPIC supports thousands of patients annually in its Sacramento and Rocklin locations with precision cancer and neurology PET imaging which helps define correct care pathways for treating physicians. Established as a nonprofit, in 1992, NCPIC holds the distinction of being the nation’s first freestanding non-university affiliated PET Center. Originally founded by Sutter Health, Mercy, and Radiological Associates of Sacramento, NCPIC has consistently delivered high-quality molecular imaging to its community, garnering recognition as a premier PET Center, that enables care teams to boost their efforts to treat cancer and neurology patients accurately, while raising the bar for quality PET/CT imaging nationally.
Brad is an accomplished and respected senior executive officer and serial entrepreneur, and is widely regarded as an industry leader in the fields of cancer, cancer coordination, and radiology center operations, with particular expertise in building value-based care operations, with IT and EHR interoperability. Brad came to NCPIC from Inglewood Imaging Center (IIC) where, as founder and CEO, he established advanced cancer and body imaging access points for patients from throughout LA County. During his tenure at IIC, Brad was named Medical Group CEO of the Year and IIC was awarded Healthcare Company of the Year for three consecutive years, by the Los Angeles Business Journal. An ABL-Health LA Member since early 2012, Brad has joined ABL’s Bay Area Round Table.

IT’S BACK TO THE FUTURES OF HEALTHCARE

Mimi recently participated in the “Living Longer Festival: Health + Wellness 2050,” held at the Smithsonian Arts & Industries Building on the National Mall. Here, Mimi shares a brief photo journal, with captions, of her incredible experience.

In 1879, the “National Museum” – the nation’s first, was “crowned” on the Washington Mall. Last November, after being closed for the past 20 years, the renamed Smithsonian “Arts + Industries Building” (AIB) reopened its doors to host the “FUTURES” exhibit. Over the eight months of the exhibit, FUTURES looked at a number of themes, including the future of AI, Generative Design, Conservation, Energy, Transportation, Work, Fashion, Gaming, and “Healthcare – in 2050.”

On June 25th, the “Living Longer Festival: Health + Wellness 2050,” highlighted a special demonstration entitled, “The Doctor Is In (SPACE),” “demonstrating” how an astronaut using a MedWand on a patient in space could conceivably link with a terrestrial doctor for an exam. MedWand’s Co-Founders, Bob Rose, CEO, and Samir Qamar, MD, CMO, were frequently seen on-hand answering questions from the 12,000 visitors who toured the Exhibit on “Solstice Saturday,” when several of the Smithsonian museums, including AIB, stayed open late – some till midnight.

Later, I had the honor of moderating an outstanding panel of experts, supplemented with questions from the audience who “Interrupted Your Regularly Scheduled Panel” throughout “WIYRSP: Living Longer in the Future.” To kick it off we introduced “Elizabeth,” a great grandmother, who was captured on her grandson’s iPhone for the masses when she demonstrated her impressive moves as she got down to Bruno Mars at her 100th birthday party surrounded by friends and family…
